Under this visa:

  • You may live in Australia for up to two years.
  • You may work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support).
  • You are eligible to enrol for Medicare, which will be helpful for medical and healthcare insurance.
  • You may travel to and from Australia as many times for two years from the date your visa is granted.
  • You may apply for a Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143).It is important to note that you cannot extend or re-apply for this visa.

Eligibility

To qualify for this visa, there are certain requirements:

  • Sponsors of this visa must be Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens for a minimum period of two years.The sponsors must be above 18 years of age.
  • The applicant must meet the balance of family test. This is not necessary if the applicant is opting for the Retirement Pathway or holds aSubclass 173 visa.
  • The applicant must not hold or have applied for a SponsoredParent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 870) while applying for this visa.
  • The applicant/s must meet Australian health requirement standards.
  • The applicant/s must meet Australian character requirement standards.
